Hairdo Help

I need some reasonably quick and easy chic ideas for ponytails and buns. I don't know how to do any type of fashionable up-do other than a sleek, pulled back pony and wrapping hair around the hair tie. I am completely lost-I always have my entire outfits put together, but if I need to pull my hair up, it is a boring pony or crappy bun. Please help!

Scar Cream Help Needed!

Last week, I had surgery on my neck. I'm grateful that it was nothing serious, but I'm left with a scar that's a little over an inch long. Kudos to my surgeon for making such a small incision, but since the mark is on such a visible part of my body, I want to make sure that I do everything I can to help it heal nicely. Do any of you have experience with scar creams, vitamins, or any home remedies? I'd really appreciate the advice!

Perfect Sunless Tan

I really want gorgeous bronzed skin all year 'round, but I really don't want to risk the skin cancers and premature aging that sun/solarium tanning can cause. Getting a professional spray tan every week would just be way to expensive, but at home fake tanners, whatever the type always seem to look terrible!

Anyone got any suggestions? It would be great to hear from someone who has mastered the art of at home fake tanning! My only limitations are that I refuse to buy anything that isn't guaranteed not tested on animals and no animal tested ingredients. (Just give me your suggestions though, I'll check if it's a good brand.)

Dry hair and cuticles?

The ends of your hair feeling like straw and cuticles looking a bit dry? And...... you have a date tomorrow night or an interview tomorrow? Well, olive oil isn't just for cooking anymore. Everyone by now has EVOO (extra virgin olive oil) in their kitchen now. Well, if you want to give love to your dry split ends and/or your dried out winter cuticles, take a little EVOO (and I mean a little) and place in the palm of your hand, rub hands gently together and gently scrunch into the ends of your hair and rub a tiny bit around your nails and into your cuticles. Leave it on a full day if you want, if you aren't going anywhere, and the next time you shampoo your hair will be in MUCH better shape (softer and shinier). This is the same theory as the over-the-counter hot oil treatments, only you don't need to heat this up or spend the $$ because you already have the olive oil (I hope). Do this and your hair and nails will love you for it......................... and your date or interview will be easier to get ready for.

Stop your skirt/dress from "sticking" to your legs.

Your skirt or dress keep sticking to your legs from static? Here is a little trick I use to stop static electricity (as one usually doesn't carry Static Guard in their purse): Rub a bit of hand or body lotion between your palms and rub lightly up and down the top of your legs under your skirt, even onto your hose is fine - it works just as good as Static Guard..... and smells a lot better too.

Figured it out-Spiral Curling Iron

I answered my own dilemma............... I threw away the instructions that were apparently written by a male engineer for my spiral curling iron. I actually just plugged it in and tried it this way and that way, and I found the RIGHT way........... hair turned out FAB!

Spiral curling iron....Now what? Help?

I purchased a spiral wave ceramic curling iron, but the directions are apparently written by someone who is an engineer...... Does anyone know HOW to use the spiral curling iron? It shouldn't be that difficult, and I am smart, just confused........ I have heard about five different ways by many different web sites... HELP!

really good exfoliator

A few months ago, I posted for advice on lightening a spot on my face. A darling young lady (Sofi!) advised me to exfoliate a few times a week and that has done wonders. I checked a few different products and the best one I found was on the shelf in my kitchen. That product is sugar. yes, white granulated sugar! Put a few spoonfulls in a bowl and add a few drops of water to moisten it, then scrub away! Not only does it get rid of all the yucky pore clogging crap, it's antibacterial!

Does cold weather kill fashion?

Okay guys, so it's starting to get pretty cold in the quaint little college town that I'm in... which means that it's time for everyone to pull out the Uggs and the North Face coats, right?

Wrong! Or at least, wrong for me. I don't know--having grown up in a city that didn't get THAT cold even in the dead of winter, I find that putting on clothing that makes you look like the Michelin Man or like you've just stuffed yourself into a bunch of nice, fluffy, over-sized marshmallows just isn't too cool. So far I've stubbornly stuck to layering up like crazy under a nice wool coat, which ends up being WAY too cool in the -literal- sense of the word.

So my question to you guys is... what do you do when it's really cold (really, like wind and snow and entire days below freezing point) outside and you want to keep your internal organs nice and toasty, without entirely relinquishing the dignity of your appearance?

On a related note... am I the only person who has serious issues deciphering what online descriptions mean with regards to how practical an article of clothing is? I feel like I've seen a lot of decently cute coats, bomber jackets and parkas out there with really vague descriptions. For example, I can't tell what temperature a "quilted lining" is good for...

Curling iron

So what do you think:

Does a curling iron damage your hair?
How often can you use it, if you don't want it to damage your hair?
And what is a good curling iron?

Love to hear what you think.
